Your donations to the Lan Cun Education Project will help the Lan Cun Primary School, a public elementary school serving in a very poor, rural community in southern China, maintain its cafeteria and low-cost hot lunch program. What We've Done So Far

With the support of donors like you, the Lan Cun Education Project built, staffed, and supplied a cafeteria and kitchen at the Lan Cun Primary School in 2011. The cafeteria currently serves students, teachers, and the community and provides affordable hot lunches.

Most of the kids in Lan Cun live in "extreme poverty," meaning that their families are struggling to live on less than US$1 a day. The girls in Lan Cun do not continue school past age 14, when tuition is no longer free. A semester of high school costs more than a year's salary for many families. The school and community are now raising their own funds to continue covering the costs of the cafeteria and lunch program, but because the school doubled in size in 2013 despite an already tight budget, they still need your help.
